For those of you that stuck around past the closing credits of Iron Man, you got a glimpse of the Samuel L. Jackson donning an eye patch as S.H.I.E.L.D. Director mastermind Nick Fury. In the post-credits scene, Fury told Tony Starks that there were more superheroes in the world and that he wanted to discuss the Avenger Initiative, fueling speculation on how Iron Man 2 would take shape. But now, after Iron Man 2 has already begun filming, Jackson is stepping out to discuss the reason why Fury won’t be making any appearances in the sequel to the blockbuster smash. Speaking with MTV, Jackson explained that he’ll be featured in The Avengers instead of Iron Man 2 because his character hasn’t yet entered the “bad-ass zone” and is still a talker. Knowing that Jackson has signed on for nine films with Marvel Studios as Fury, he’d better get into the zone quickly - we don’t want to watch any films where Jackson isn’t 100% bad-ass.
