Well color us Roman. Here comes another period piece, this time set in Roman times where - gasp - a lady (Rachel Weisz) is in charge. Described as a historical drama, the film, directed by Alejandro Amenábar (The Others, The Sea Inside), chronicles the story of astronomer-philosopher Hypatia of Alexandria (Weisz) who falls in love with a slave named Davus (Max Minghella). The problem is that Davus recognizes that his key to freedom comes with allying himself with the rise of Christianity, which involves him turning his back on his beloved. Agora, which was actually a name for markets in ancient Greece, hits theaters December 18th - and faces tough competition (we see ou, Avatar). Good luck to this one.
