NBC doesn’t immediately come to mind when you’re reflecting on networks that include an African-American-based series, and they’re well aware of that fact. So in an effort to bring more diversity to the peacock, NBC has added Ordinary People to the development slate, a comedy from producer Scott Stuber that’s being set up at Universal Media Studios. Ordinary, which is described as Mad About You meets The Cosby Show, will focus on husband-and-wife team Kevin and Kelsey Whitmore, two 20-somethings that juggle raising four children with fast-lane professions. Kevin is a Rolling Stone music writer that gets a job as a columnist after years of putting in his work as a reporter, troubling the family dynamic as they all readjust to him working at home. Sounds hilarious, no?
