Apparently, James Cameron’s Avatar has already cost $500 million to make and market, so they’ve got to get seriously busy on making sure this doesn’t go the way of Waterworld and flop, flop, flop. This time, they’re targeting the kids with their latest TV spot (it debuted on Nickelodeon), which has a more childlike sense of wonder to it that’s most likely meant to entice the young’ns to go see the flick (actually, it’s a pretty smart marketing move, considering that a kid doesn’t really go to the movies without a parent). Though we haven’t yet been won over, this 3-D flick has to do much more than just cover each demographic to convince us to go. After all, the CG effects look pretty corny, and that alone is sending us bad vibes. Yikes.
