It’s only a few days until James Cameron’s epic new film Avatar hits theaters, and though we’ve been suspicious that it’s going to bite the dust extra hard, this kind of changes our mind. According to Screen Daily, Avatar has sold $1 million in advance ticket sales (47,487 tickets, to be exact) through London’s British Film Institute IMAX, beating the 37,929 tickets for The Dark Knight in July 2008. Obviously, this only extends to ticket sales in London through a specific ticket vendor, and there’s no official word on how many tickets have been sold over here, but with a rumored budget of $500 million, recouping that $1 mil isn’t bad at all.
