In recent months, you probably started thinking that The Twilight Saga: New Moon was the top-grossing movie of the year. Well, you thought wrong. According to Screen Daily, Warner Bros’ Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince topped the worldwide box office so far this year, pulling in $929.4 million across the world. The gross is split between $302 million made in the U.S. and $627.4 million made at the international box office, a feat that bested Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs for first (it came in second with $878.8 million worldwide). Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen placed at first in the U.S. with $402.1 million, but only placed at third worldwide. Other top five placement at the international box office was Up at four with $662.3 million, an expected placement for a film with international appeal. Not a bad year for the international box office at all!
