“Avatar” Wins Seventh Consecutive Weekend

Posted by ShowingOut On January - 31 - 2010

Just when you thought Avatar had run its course (especially after having become the highest-grossing film of all-time last week), it continues to make big moves in its seventh week of release. This weekend at the box office, James Cameron’s epic new flick made another estimated $30 million, upping its overall domestic cume to $594,472,000. That was more than enough to eclipse Mel Gibson’s new action thriller Edge of Darkness, which debuted at number two with $17.12 million earned at the domestic box office. Rom-com When in Rome did so-so, dropping at number three with a $12 million gross, while Tooth Fairy and Book of Eli rounded out four and five with $10 and $8.77 million earned, respectively. Guess Hollywood won’t be complaining about box office deficits this year.

More Details on “Scream 4,” Teaser Trailer

Posted by ShowingOut On January - 29 - 2010

Well would you look at this. The teaser trailer for Scream 4 just hit the net, and while we have our suspicions that it could be fan made, it could be legit (no footage from the film, which isn’t a shock, considering that they haven’t even begun pre-production). But what’s that you ask? How far along is the movie? Here’s the scoop. Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox are all back on board to star in the film, and scribe Kevin Williamson is finishing up the script at the moment. “I’m almost done with the first draft of Scream 4,” he tells IESB.net. “I’m trying to get that together for Wes Craven. We’ve got to get going on that, during the hiatus. We have Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and Dave Arquette. I was always holding out hope because the pitch was about those three characters. I didn’t want to have to re-route the whole story. We don’t have to do that. I can do it exactly the way I want wanted. The story is going to be told the way I originally conceived it.” Read on for more.

Video: Rich Boy feat. Chilli Chill - Top of the World

Posted by ShowingOut On January - 29 - 2010

We thought that there was a song already released by T.I. featuring Ludacris and B.o.B called “On Top of the World,” but whatever’s been done in the rap game can always be done twice. Above is the video for Rich Boy’s “Top of the World,” his Chilli Chill-assisted video for the track off the More Than a Game soundtrack. Though we wouldn’t recommend watching this video all the way through (the way that Rich Boy moves his mouth while rapping along is a bit jarring), the song is pretty tough, given the typical rapper’s rag-to-riches storyline that the video follows. Oh hell, just hit the play button and watch. You know you want to.

Nelly, Jermaine Dupri and Trey Songz to Star on Male “The View”

Posted by ShowingOut On January - 29 - 2010

The only thing that we can’t stand about The View is that it only offers strong views of current issues from the female perspective. That’s fine, but there’s something to be said about the lack of a strong male presence on it. But all that’s about to change. In an interview with BV Buzz, Nelly states that his Ocean’s 7 Crew – including Jermaine Dupri, Trey Songz, Johnta Austin, Brian Michael Cox and Tyrone “International” Davis – are working on a male version of The View, likening it to Gerard Butler’s character’s TV show in The Ugly Truth. “You ever seen that movie called ‘The Ugly Truth?’ You know how the guy had his show; well we’re working on that,” he explains. No word on when this will hit the small screen, but come now. This would be epic.

Trailer Talk: The Losers

Posted by ShowingOut On January - 29 - 2010

Well that was quick. A few hours ago, some footage leaked to YouTube from Entertainment Tonight that gave the world a first look at Sylvain White’s The Losers starring Zoe Saldana, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba and Chris Evans. The film, which hits theaters April 9th, is based on the DC Comics title of the same name, which was originally set during World War II and focused on a Special Forces group that formed during the war. This time, the film centers on a CIA black ops team who, after being betrayed and left for dead, rise above and come back, seeking revenge on those that tried to bury them. Watch the trailer above and prepare yourself for the military mayhem that’s headed to theaters.

Video: Nina Sky – Beautiful People

Posted by ShowingOut On January - 29 - 2010

We haven’t heard much from Nina Sky recently in terms of new music coming out of the woodwork, so this one comes as a nice little Friday treat. Above is the video for “Beautiful People,” a montage of Nicole and Natalie performing on stage, hitting the studio and doing day-to-day business. According to the girls, the video comes with a mission statement:

“Beautiful People” is not just another video, it’s some insight into what’s been going on in our lives. This includes rehearsals, live performances, and spending time with some of our FAVORITE people: family, friends, and fans. A lot of artists have a different definition of what ‘beautiful’ means. These are good times with the most important people in our lives and they represent the REAL definition of beauty.

Support these girls.

Complete Transcript of Oprah’s Leno Interview

Posted by ShowingOut On January - 29 - 2010

In case you missed it, Oprah Winfrey sat down with Jay Leno to have one of her signature heart-to-hearts about what went down over the past few weeks at NBC. Her website offered the full transcript of the conversation, which makes for an interesting, in-depth read giving Leno’s side of the story here. And to be honest, this doesn’t make us like him any more than we did at the beginning of this whole fiasco. Instead of speaking up, Leno just let the suits make all the decisions as Conan spoke up and took all the heat. Unfortunately for Jay, the fans gravitated towards Conan’s side as he fought for his rights, all while Leno acted like the corporation’s doormat. In this interview, he plays the victim, saying “It broke my heart. It really did. I was devastated” on when he found out he lost The Tonight Show hosting position. Yeah right. Bet it hurts now, too. Hit the jump and read the full transcription.

Clip: The Losers (Preview)

Posted by ShowingOut On January - 29 - 2010

Entertainment Tonight has been doing some pretty good stuff in terms of getting advance looks at upcoming movies. Such is the case for The Losers, starring Zoe Saldana, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba and Chris Evans. Directed by Sylvain White, the film looks like it’s going to be chockfull of guns, explosions and cigar-smoking, using militancy and army influence and incorporating it into an big budget action thriller. The plot focuses on members of a CIA black ops team who, after being betrayed and left for dead, rise above and come back, seeking revenge on those that tried to bury them. Sounds intriguing. Look out for this one when it hits theaters April 9th.
