A three-day weekend can only mean one thing: better box office numbers. That’s the case for Avatar, which tops the three-day weekend with a whopping $54.6 million added to the domestic pile, which now stands at $505.1 million in a record 32 days. Worldwide, the film’s gross is now at $1.64 billion, which makes it just a few hundred million away from besting Titanic for the top-grossing position of all-time (the other James Cameron film earned $1.84 billion during its run). The Book of Eli came in second with a healthy $38 million, while The Lovely Bones debuted at number three with $20.5 mil and The Spy Next Door flopped into fifth place with only $13 million. We give it about two more weeks until Avatar becomes the highest grossing movie of all time. Any bets?
