Trailer Talk: Kick-Ass (Trailer #4)

Posted by ShowingOut On March - 19 - 2010

We’ve already posted three trailers for the upcoming film Kick-Ass (watch them here, here and here), so clearly, the more, the merrier. In the above trailer, we get a few new clips from the movie that we haven’t already seen, though it’s pretty much the same as the others (minus all the red band glory that comes with unedited trailers). The Matthew Vaughn-directed flick, based on the comic series by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., focuses on a group of everyday normals strapping on superhero outfits and fighting both crime and each other, making for one hilarious if not secondhand embarrassment-inducing feature. The film, which stars Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson, Lyndsy Fonseca, Mark Strong, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Chloe Moretz, hits theaters April 16th. Don’t ignore this one.

Trailer Talk: Predators

Posted by ShowingOut On March - 19 - 2010

Last week, we got a good look at Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming reboot of Predators with a first look video hitting the net, and now, we get the full trailer. And can we just share our excitement for how awesome and intense this looks? The film stars Adrien Brody, Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Alice Braga and a handful of others in this series remake, focusing on a group of elite warriors are hunted by members of a merciless alien race known as Predators. And unlike the previous clips released from the film, we actually get to see Predators in this one - even if we only get a glimpse of them for a short while. Be sure to add this one to the calendar: July 7th is the date.

Trailer Talk: Megamind

Posted by ShowingOut On March - 18 - 2010

Anything that comes from DreamWorks Animation is worth at least a mention, especially if they drop a trailer with a long lead time. Such is the case for Megamind, a film slated to hit theaters on November 5th and starring Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Tina Fey. But we’ll be real with you here: this doesn’t look astounding. The film stars Ferrell as a super villain named Megamind, an evil force who defeats his good guy enemy Metro Man (Pitt), a feat that actually depresses instead of enlivens him once he realizes that he’s nothing without someone to fight against. So instead, he creates a new superhero named Titan (Hill), who goes against his will by wanting to be evil instead of good. This one’s a teaser, but honestly, they should step their game up for the next one. Shame on you, DreamWorks.

Trailer Talk: The Switch

Posted by ShowingOut On March - 18 - 2010

Another rom-com starring Jennifer Aniston. Just what we need. Above is the new trailer for the upcoming film The Switch, which actually takes a more risque approach to the rom-com genre by basing it around - ahem - artificial insemination. The film stars Aniston as an unmarried 40-year-old (right) who decides to strike while the iron’s hot and get pregnant while she still has the capability to bear children. But after seven years, she links back up with her best friend Wally (Jason Bateman) who not only loves her, but also pulled a fast one on her and replaced her chosen sperm with his own. The film, which also stars Jeff Goldblum, Juliette Lewis, Patrick Wilson and more, and it set to hit theaters on August 20th. Could be good, could cross the line. Either way, sick premise.

Trailer Talk: Eat, Pray, Love

Posted by ShowingOut On March - 18 - 2010

For all you bibliophiles, you’ve probably read Eat, Pray, Love. And like any bestseller, Hollywood has gone right ahead and turned this one into a feature film. Above is the trailer for the upcoming flick, which stars Julia Roberts, James Franco, Javier Bardem, Billy Crudup, Richard Jenkins and Viola Davis. Based on the memoir by Elizabeth Gilbert, the film focuses on a married woman (Roberts) who, after a difficult divorce, goes on a quest around the world. The film is directed by Ryan Murphy (Running with Scissors) from a script co-written by Murphy and Jennifer Salt. Looks like a chick flick by our standards, but since we’re not so up on our contemporary literature, we wouldn’t really know what direction this leans. Check this one out when it hits theaters August 13th.

Trailer for Snoop Dogg’s “Malice in Wonderland”

Posted by ShowingOut On March - 17 - 2010

Last time Snoop Dogg was in a movie, his music made a cameo in the teen horror flick Jennifer’s Body. Now, he’s going to erase that bad memory with a mini-movie of his own. In the above trailer, you can get a good look at his upcoming mini-film Malice in Wonderland: The Movie, which is set to be included on the re-release of his album Malice in Wonderland titled More Malice. The film is set to premiere on BET and Spike TV on March 24th, with its Hulu premiere to take place next week, giving viewers multiple platforms to see Snoop assume the form of a superhero. The flick, which features guest appearances from Jamie Foxx, Xzibit, Nipsey Hussle, looks like it’s going to be a mess. A beautiful mess.

Trailer Talk: The Mechanic

Posted by ShowingOut On March - 17 - 2010

Oh good, another Jason Statham movie where lots of stuff blows up and camera cuts happen every three seconds. Above is the trailer for the remake of the 1972 film The Mechanic, starring a healthy cast that includes Statham, Ben Foster, Donald Sutherland, Christa Campbell and more. Directed by Simon West (Tomb Raider0he film focuses on Steve McKenna (Foster), a young dude who goes under the wing of a skilled hitman (Statham), whose job is compromised when he involves McKenna in a few of his assignments. The film won’t actually be in theaters until December 15th, but it looks like it has the potential to leave you right on the edge of your seat. Just like every other Statham movie. Enjoy.

Trailer Talk: The Romantics

Posted by ShowingOut On March - 17 - 2010

Here’s one that flew under the radar. Above is the trailer for Galt Niederhoffer’s The Romantics, a film that features a big ballin’ cast that includes Katie Holmes, Anna Paquin, Josh Duhamel, Malin Akerman, Adam Brody, Elijah Wood and Candice Bergen. The indie drama focuses on seven close friends who reunite for the wedding of two of the friends, with drama unfolding after the maid of honor (Holmes) and the bride (Paquin) duke it out over their love for the groom (Duhamel). This is the third feature film that Niederhoffer has helmed, with previous credits including writing the script for the Christina Ricci-starring Prozac Nation and producer for last year’s Labor Pains. There’s no set release date for this one, but keep this bad boy on the radar.

Trailer Talk: Boogie Woogie

Posted by ShowingOut On March - 12 - 2010

As if Valentine’s Day wasn’t entirely overbearing with the number of actors packed into it, here comes another one with the same formula. Above is the trailer for Boogie Woogie, starring Amanda Seyfried, Alan Cumming, Gillian Anderson, Heather Graham and a handful of others. The film, slated for release in April, is set in London where a group of people sleeps with one another on the art scene. The best line from this? “This isn’t art - it’s a goddamn porno movie!” as said by an old guy to his daughter. This is one of those films where everyone’s story is somehow interlinked, so it might require you to rearrange your brain circuits to properly absorb it. Either way, look out for it.

Trailer Talk: Shrek Forever After

Posted by ShowingOut On March - 12 - 2010

After the teaser trailer for the upcoming Shrek Forever After hit the net last December (watch that here), DreamWorks Animation has decided to release a much timelier trailer in anticipation of their next blockbuster hit’s May 21st release. which comes long ahead of its May 21st theatrical release. This time around, the film sees Shrek (Mike Myers) getting all domesticated before signing a deal with the evil Rumpelstiltskin (Paul McCartney). Soon, Shrek lands in a bizarre alternate universe version of Far Far Away, where Rumpelstiltskin is king, Donkey (Eddie Murphy) is smart, Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) lives and Shrek and Fiona (Cameron Diaz) have never met (not to mention an obese Puss in Boots, voiced by Antonio Banderas, is back). The film focuses on Shrek’s attempt to undo the mayhem set upon his world by Rumpelstiltskin. If this doesn’t tickle your funny bone, check yourself for a pulse.
