Word? Teairra Mari is being given another shot? OK, we’ll take the bait. Above is the ex-Roc star’s new video for “Sponsor” featuring Gucci Mane and Soulja Boy, the second single off her forthcoming sophomore album At That Point. The Yolande Geralds-directed clip shows Mari posted up in a mansion while Gucci raps about keeping her decked out in diamonds (he, of course, doesn’t appear on the video, as he’s currently do a bid) before Mari takes over and flosses extra hard. How hard? She hops in a pricey whip, flaunts a black card with her name on it and gets treated to a spa day at her own home. To put it bluntly, Mari is living a lavish life that we frankly didn’t know she was capable of living. Shrug.

Jason Derulo, Raheem DeVaughn Have High Debuts

A nice week for new releases we’ve got here. In the top-10 alone, six of the spots are occupied by freshly released albums, with Lady Antebellum edging out Sade’s Soldier of Love for the number one spot. Need You Now pulled in approximately 124,429 units, while Sade came in number two with an additional 76,462 copies moved. Newcomers Blake Shelton, Danny Gokey, the Almost Alice soundtrack and Lifehouse came in at spots three through six, respectively, with Hillbilly Bone coming in at three with 71,681 copies sold, My Best Days at four with 67,278 copies sold, the soundtrack at number five with 60,250 units moved and Smoke and Mirrors bowing at six with 54,508 copies sold. Lady Gaga dropped from five to seven with The Fame (49,430 copies sold), while Black Eyed Peas dropped from four to eight with E.N.D. (46,852 copies moved). Jason Derulo is the highest urban debut this week with his self-titled effort bowing at nine, selling a respectable 44,230 copies, while Raheem DeVaughn dropped at 11 with The Love & War MasterPeace (42,486 copies). Lil Wayne moved an additional 30,929 units of Rebirth, while DJ Khaled had an impressive entry at 13 with Victory, selling 29,484 copies. Check back next week to see if Ludacris tops the chart with his new joint Battle of the Sexes.
Video: Big Boi feat. George Clinton and Too $hort - Fo Yo Sorrows
The world has been waiting on Big Boi’s solo album Sir Lucious Leftfoot the Son of Chico Dusty for more than a year now, and finally, it gets a video ahead of its March 23rd release date. The Outkast emcee teams up with Too $hort and funk master George Clinton for the Zach Wolfe- and Dirty Dr.DAX-directed clip for “Fo Yo Sorrows.” The clip is extra funkay - so funkay, in fact, that an extra “a” had to be added to the word to convey just how thwacking and out there it truly is. We would have much rather have had a video for “Shine Blockas” featuring Gucci Mane, but baby steps are needed here considering that we’ve waited more than five years for another solo album from Big Boi (here’s lookin’ at you, Speakerboxxx).
Video: Soulja Boy - 2 Milli
As if “A Milli” weren’t enough, here’s Soulja Boy with “2 Milli.” The S.O.D. chief continues on with his recent string of video releases with the new clip for his joint “2 Milli,” which sees him stepping into the future in this technology-laden visual. While his lyrics are still very, very below average (”I spit hot flames, bitch / Just like a dragon / And my pant’s saggin’”), we’ll hand it to him that the graphics in this joint are actually pretty on point. The only problem? It’s a Soulja Boy video. We’d rather listen to a Flo Rida record than sit through this again. And that’s saying a lot.
R.I.P. Christopher Wallace AKA Notorious B.I.G.

It’s been 13 fateful years since the world lost one of the, if not the greatest, emcees of all-time. Christopher Wallace, who rose to prominence in the ’90s as Notorious B.I.G., has left enormous shoes that still haven’t been filled. With only one album released during his lifetime (Ready to Die - Life After Death was actually a posthumous release), Biggie’s music sent shockwaves through the music community and beyond, bringing lyrically adept tales of Brooklyn hustling and faux mafioso associations to the outside world. B.I.G.’s legacy lives on today (check the Twitter trending topics and you’ll know what we mean), and the world still looks to him as one of the culture’s premiere emcees. Showing Out assembled some of our favorite cuts by Biggie after the jump. RIP to Big Poppa.
New Releases (3.9.10)

Another week, another batch of new releases. Following last week’s big release day (DJ Khaled, Jason Derulo and Raheem DeVaughn all dropped new joints), this week sees another trio of big releases hitting shelves. On the major label tip, Ludacris releases his new album Battle of the Sexes featuring guest appearances from Nicki Minaj, Shawnna, Trey Songz, Ne-Yo and a handful of others. Indie-wise, rap duo Kidz in the Hall drop off their third album Land of Make Believe and on the alternative side, Gorillaz release their new one Plastic Beach. Hit the jump to see more info on this week’s new releases.
Video: B.o.B feat. Bruno Mars - Nothin’ On You
And the wheels have begun to turn for B.o.B aka Bobby Ray. Above is the video for his first official single “Nothin’ On You” off his upcoming Atlantic Records debut Adventures of Bobby Ray, which is slated for a retail release April 27th. The clip sees B.o.B spitting game at a gaggle of fine fems, walking across the screen as if he’s a crumpled piece of paper that’s come to life. But he brings it back to the basics by playing with his 2-D band, strapping on his electric guitar and rocking out to this joint. If this doesn’t burrow itself under your skin, then you might need to check yourself for a pulse.
Video: Jagged Edge feat. Trina and Gucci Mane - Tip of My Tongue
Who knew that Jagged Edge was still in it to win it? They might not be winning it with their newest video “Tip of My Tongue,” but at least they’re trying. Above is the new clip for the single off their upcoming album The Remedy, which sees them pairing up with Trina and Gucci Mane for a video filled with about every single cliche you would expect in a rap video. There are half-naked women, club shots, scenes by the pool, bottles popping - this is one big yawn. Not gonna lie, though, the song is pretty hot, it’s just that we don’t believe Jagged Edge anymore. To say that they need more people is an understatement - and that’s saying something for a group that has four members.
Video: Damani feat. Snoop Dogg - Here Comes Damani
Some French bidness for you this glorious Monday afternoon. With a French language intro, Inglewood native Damani’s new video “Here Comes Damani” is set off with some money counting (vignt, vignt, dix) before Uncle Snoop comes in and beefs up the funk factor. Damani, a former member of Snoop Dogg’s Dubb Union, , includes this joint on his upcoming free album On Vacation From Vacation, which features guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, Pharrell, Musiq Soulchild, Daz, Nicky Grier and a handful of others. Some nice visuals in this one, but we could use a little bit more to chew on when it comes to the lyrics. Guess we’ll have to wait and see if Damani can bring some lyrical flames on the joint.
Video: Reflection Eternal (Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek) - In This World
Oh, you didn’t know that emcee Talib Kweli had teamed back up with producer Hi-Tek to record the follow-up sophomore album to their insta-classic 2000 effort Train of Thought? Well, now you know. Reflection Eternal is back in full effect with the upcoming release of Revolutions Per Minute, with the first official single off the project “In This World” getting the visual treatment care of director Punit Dhesi. In the clip, the two are accented by fireworks and gold, fiery dust as Hi-Tek bops his drum machine and Kweli brushes gold sparks off his shoulders. Powerful visual presentation. Be on the lookout for when this highly anticipated album drops April 6th.
