Speaking of James Cameron, here’s some news regarding his most recent box office feat Avatar. According to the L.A. Times, Avatar will hit retail on April 22nd care of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment in both DVD and Blu-ray formats. The release is being described as “unconventional,” forgoing the extra features and settling on just a simple menu function, a decision meant to allow every part of the disc to be used for the best graphical presentation. And on top of that, Avatar will become the first Blu-ray film in history to be released by a major studio without a single promo trailer or item of any kind. The only downside? The release won’t be in 3-D. But by the time April 22nd rolls around, if you haven’t seen the film yet, you’re already a lost cause.

Just when you thought life could get any worse, here comes some news that is bound to crush your soul. Like everything in Hollywood these days, James Cameron is planning on bringing his next film to the big screen in 3-D - only it’s with his 1997 blockbuster Titanic. In an interview with Empire, Cameron plans to bring Titanic back to theaters in 3-D in 2012, discussing how the project is coming along. “We’re going to do Titanic in 3-D!” he says. “We’ve already done a 90 second clip of it and it’s phenomenal and gorgeous, so that’s going to be the project for next year. It’s a conversion of it, not native photography; we can’t go back.” Talk about a shipwreck. Yikes.

Haven’t heard much on the Michael Jackson tip in a minute, but based on a report from the Wall Street Journal, you’re going to be hearing a lot more of him in the near future. According to the paper, MJ’s estate and Sony Music have struck the most lucrative record deal in the history of the music industry, with the label ponying up roughly $250 million, with 10 albums planned to be released over a period of seven years. For those that think think Sony must be on that wack juice for throwing over this kind of money, the label has reportedly sold more than 31 million copies of MJ’s albums since his death last June and have made more than $250 million from album sales alone, figures that are bound to remain rather steady over the next few years. And not only that, but the Jackson estate will most likely be able to pay off the $250 million debt by the end of the year, so everyone’s winning in this sitch. Just don’t be surprised if, when you walk into Best Buy next year, MJ mania will have taken over - for like, a fifth time.

Let’s face it: New York rap has fallen off in recent years. And over the past few years, East Coast rap fans have been waiting for the one track to put NYC back on the map. Lloyd Banks has done just that, catching the unexpected hit “Beamers, Benz or Bentley” with a little assistance with Dipset’s own Juelz Santana. Now, the two team up for a music video for the anthem, a clip that, though it doesn’t necessarily bring NY back, it does a good job of at least promoting the one track that has the potential to put it back on the map. Hit the play button above and ride out, regardless of whether or not you’re down for the cause.

The one thing missing in your life? A reality show starring Mike Tyson. But fret not - that void is about to be filled. According to the NY Post, Mike Tyson will make his debut as a reality TV star in his show Take on Tyson, which shows Tyson hanging up his gloves and picking up his other lifelong hobby: pigeon-keeping. The show will focus on his obsession with bird racing, with the heavyweight champing stating, “I may have stoped fighting, but I never stopped flying birds. It’s my first love.” “I am a little worried about the sitcom effect,” Tyson also stated about the Animal Planet show, which focuses on the NY bird-keeping scene. Something to look forward to? Maybs.

Though there’s nothing special to write home about here, the clip is relatively sheen and gorgeous, a nice prelude to what we can expect on the upcoming release (which features guest appearances from Trey Songz, Monica, Nicki Minaj, Lady Saw and a handful of others). Look out for this joint when it drops in the next few months.

Forest Whitaker had a mediocre entry with his new film Our Family Wedding at the box office this weekend, bowing at number five with little fanfare. But that doesn’t mean he’s throwing in the towel anytime soon. According to Variety, Whitaker has already set his sights on his next flick with the thesp in talks to star in indie drama Little Treasure, a film that focuses on a couple who returns to the wife’s homeland of China. The film, which will be shot on location in Shanghai, will be directed by Michael D. Olmos from a script by Josh Goldstein with shooting to begin next month. Looks like someone’s gettin’ that Shanghai money.

If the numbers yesterday weren’t indicative enough, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland stays killin’ ‘em. According to THR, the fantasy flick roped in an additional $62 million in its second weekend at the box office, upping its overall domestic cume to $208.6 million and international gross to $430 mil. Matt Damon-headliner Green Zone came in a distant second, grossing $14.5 million in its first weekend - a respectable entry considering that Alice is on a hot streak. She’s Out of My League dropped at number three with $9.6 million in its first week, while the sappy Remember Me came in at number four with a measly $8.3 million in its opening weekend. And rounding out the top five is Our Family Wedding, the Forest Whitaker vehicle that roped in a meh $7.6 mil. Anything that didn’t make the top five? Click that link above and get on to it.

Everyone seems to be putting their own spin on Lloyd Banks’ unexpected hit “Beamers, Benz or Bentley,” so it only make sense that someone would make the more recession-friendly version of the track. Joell Ortiz happens to be that dude, enlisting the Capo for his new joint “Nissan, Honda, Chevy” for which they just shot the video care of director Dawud Gaston. With some nifty color correction, the clip is a basic tales-of-the-street type of clip, showing a drug deal gone wrong when some plainclothes cops put down the sting. Hit the play button and ride out to this one - anything is better than a Lloyd Banks version of anything.
