While more people are concerned with whether or not Megan Fox will return for Transformers 3 (she had diarrhea of the mouth and trashtalked director Michael Bay), Tyrese Gibson has already made the cut. According to his Twitter page, the singer/actor will reprise his role as Robert Epps, a U.S. Air Force Combat Controller and a member of NEST who he played in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. “TRANSFORMERS 3: Is Full THrottle Full Steam Ahead….. Michael Bay gave me the start date.. And I can’t share..,” he tweeted, suggesting that the film will begin shooting in time to make its July 1, 2011 release date. But in the meantime, would you be my sweet lady?

“2012″ Becomes China’s Second Biggest Film

2012

Roland Emmerich’s 2012 ended up being quite the hit at the box office when it was released last month, but it’s managed to do some serious damage overseas. According to Screen Daily, the disaster flick has pulled in $58.6 million (RMB400 million) in China, accounting for 10% of the international box office gross. The highest grossing film in China was, of course, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, which totaled at $62.96m (RMB430m) after it opened in July 2009. To put this in perspective, the state-funded The Founding of a Republic also broke the RMB400m mark with $61.49m earlier this year, which puts it in another lane considering it didn’t come out of Hollywood. Next up? Avatar, which comes out this week. Gonna blow away the box office over there apparently. Too bad we’re not buying it.

Video: Tyrese - Mayhem Take Me Away

Posted by ShowingOut On December - 2 - 2009

Tyrese makes his directorial debut in this video for his “international club hit” (his words, not ours) “Mayhem Take Me Away,” which sees Tyrese traveling the globe to do press for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (a little late, if you ask us). We’ll let his words do the talking here: “I was out promoting Transformers Revenge Of the Fallen in 8 different countries.. I decided to buy a SONG [ed: Sony] HD camcorder and shoot a video to my international club record “MAYHEM TAKE ME AWAY”.” Is it just us, or is the use of autotune in this song a bit gratuitous? Wasn’t Tyrese a singer once?

The only thing more exciting for geeks than seeing films in franchises like Transformers is the news that leaks about them. So geeks, rejoice, because Paramount just announced that the third installment of Transformers will be released almost two years from now on July 11, 2011. Michael Bay is reported to be back on board to direct the new installment of the franchise, with Bay announcing that he and scribe Ehren Kruger been in talks with ILM and Hasbro to get the wheels turning on the threequel. This adds yet another film to the already jampacked summer, which sees the fourth Spider-Man, The Hangover 2 and more gracing theaters the same season. Good luck, Bay and co.

Box Office Recap

What a weekend it was. We happened to catch the new Diablo Cody-penned flick Jennifer’s Body, and can we just say how much of a disappointment it was? Unsurprisingly, the rest of American thought it had the potential to be that much of a letdown, and the numbers show for it. This weekend at the box office, the new animation flick Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs nabbed the number one spot with an estimated $30.1 million in ticket sales, giving it the third biggest opening for a film in September of all time. Not bad. The rest of the new releases at the box office? Didn’t fare as well.

Behind the Scenes: Jennifer’s Body

Posted by ShowingOut On September - 3 - 2009

The buzz is just starting to grow for the forthcoming Diablo Cody-penned Jennifer’s Body, and we’re buying right into the hype. In the above clip, you get to see some behind-the-scenes footage of the film, featuring interviews with Megan Fox, Amanda Seyfried and Cody, all of whom expound on how they think the characters and themes of the horror flick will resonate with a mainstream audience. In case you didn’t already know the plot, Jennifer’s Body stars Fox as a high school girl that’s sacrificed to the devil, only to have a demon take over her body and force her to feed on boys from her local high school. It sounds horrifying, and it probably will be - just another reason to go see it when it drops September 18th.

Featurette: Jennifer’s Body

Posted by ShowingOut On August - 26 - 2009

Not much new in this featurette, but it does feature some nifty behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with some of the cast and crew. Jennifer’s Body follows the story of Jennifer (Megan Fox) who’s sacrificed to the devil by a rock band so that they can achieve stardom. After a demon inhabits her body, she begins feeding on boys from her high school, leading her best friend Needy (Amanda Seyfried) to suspect that something might be up. When she realizes that Jennifer is causing all this terror, she attempts to sabotage her, only to end up in a mental ward. Sound rich and complex to us. Jennifer’s Body hits theaters September 18th.

Hilarious: Megan Fox Promo

Posted by ShowingOut On August - 12 - 2009

Perhaps you’ve heard of this little movie called Jennifer’s Body. If you keep up with the site, then you know that we’ve written about it several times before. So it brings us great pleasure to post the clip above, which sees Megan Fox hopping into the promo ring for a round of hilarity ahead of the film’s release. In the clip, Fox gives her own little P.S.A. for every high school student out there that’s been the victim of bullying, comforting the abused by telling them that it’s cruel and tough to be in high school. Her advice? Just say “F*** ‘em, because they don’t know s***.” And instead of getting mad, she tells them to get even - by slowly killing and eating every guy at their school. Jennifer’s Body, hitting theaters September 18. Not soon enough.

G.I. Joe Bypasses Critics

Uh oh. It’s never a good sign when studios refuse to hold advance screenings for critics. Usually, film companies will hold back on showing the movies in fears that bad reviews might deter audiences from going to see the flick when it comes out. So it goes for G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, which is set to hit theaters this Friday. Paramount Pictures has only screened the film for a select few, including Harry Knowles of Ain’t It Cool News, who have actually had nothing but good things to say about the movie. Nonetheless, Paramount claims that they’re aiming to win over moviegoers in the heartland (read: viewers outside of metropolitan cities like New York City and Los Angeles - you know, the ones where many intellectuals are based) in attempts to sidestep a dubious critical eye. Our verdict? This film probably stinks, but they might be making the right move here. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was pegged with terrible reviews ahead of its release, yet it went on to make almost $400 million. So for all we know, G.I. Joe could be the next big thing tat the box office. But we wouldn’t shed a tear if it ended up being a big ol’ flop.
